At center a house can be seen, hidden largely behind trees, with a fence to the proper left. The lake is in the foreground. Mounted to acidic brown backing paper. Note: the Fields had a vacation house there. We have a Zaca Lake scrapbook from circa 1927-30.

  4. Field, Isobel (Strong). This is an original pencil drawing (sketch) on paper which has been affixed to a gray piece of card. Scene shows a group of woman in a native village - perhaps the south seas or Haiti - with several women woman on the ground and some standing with baskets on their heads. Written notes on the drawing seem instructional - "note how I got back to the distance" and "Every head, hand and foot accounted for" and "I feel I want a semi note at A. B. & C." and a note indicating a sleeping dog.

  9. Field, Isobel (Strong). This is an original pencil and pen sketch of a gathering of 6 people at a formal event. On the left is a Man in a suit, wearing glasses and lay, escorting two women (one in native dress on the left, and one in Western dress on the right). At center is a plump man with a beard and a large rear end, wearing a suit. On the right stands a woman and a man in a suit - they look like they could be Isobel and Joe Strong - she wears a holaku style dress and holds a south seas style fan.

  10. Field, Isobel (Strong). This is an original pencil sketch of a scene of 7 people (and a dog) preparing an outside dinner. Looks like California in the 1930s. There are 2 sets of couples, a woman in a berret, and two maids attending the barbaque. Note: possibly one of Belle and Ned Field's gatherings at Serena, Carpenteria, California.

  12. This is an original manuscript broadside (large decorative letter), hand lettered and decorated with watercolor vignettes featuring Apia, Samoa. It is addressed to William Cooper, Esq. (who was leaving his post as Magistrated at the time) as a commemorative note from local friends. The letter is signed by 32 people - including Henry C. Ide (father of Annie Ide, who was legally granted RLS's birthday of November 13th in compensate for her December 25th date). The letter is dated October 28, 1896.

  14. this is a small print by the artist Mirando Haz (number 13/35). It is believed to possibly be part of this gift (but records are fuzzy). It is signed, dated and numbered by the artist - but there is no apparent title. Similar to the two works that are definitly illustrations to Stevenson's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

  15. Original watercolor (wash) drawing: This drawing is somehow related to Stevenson as part of material received from Mrs. Dora Williams. Subject South Seas note: may or may not be by Gordon Browne or Fanny Stevenson (at one point was listed as "A-1: XVI-73: p. 2, #21" ).

This is an original pencil sketch of a scene of 5 women - the left most sits small on a small couch, going right there is then a smiling woman in a dress bending over, the tallest woman in a dress with nose in the air, a woman in a big collared jacket with usual hat, and lastly a woman seen from behind with a long evening gown with a deep "v" back.
