On The Art Of Literature. Autograph Essay of 17pp., divided into two chapters, I, Forms and II, Matter and Style; the first Chapter is again sub-divided into sections dealing with Narrative, Dramatic, Philosophical and Lyrical work; written in a 4to note-book and preserved in a blue levant morocco slip-case, gilt lettering on side and back. Apparently unpublished. Stevenson in 1885 published an "Essay On Style in Literature" in "The Contemporary Review," but the present MS does not appear to have been printed. |
